Adventure Dog Skills

 3 lessons – $350

If your dog has their basic skills down, and you’re ready to take their training to the next level, the Adventure Dog Skills program will help you get your dog adventure ready.

If you’ve dreamed of hiking, trail running off-leash with your dog, or camping, but don’t know how to handle other dogs coming into your dog’s space without permission, this package will help you build your confidence communicating with other owners and advocating for your dog.

This program includes:

  • Three visits to a local trail or park where we will practice recall with your dog using the long line and/or e-collar.
  • Trail commands to aide with passing other dogs and people
  • Learn how to prevent other dogs from approaching your dog on the trail

    Private 1:1 Virtual Lessons

You can purchase the Basic On-Leash Obedience or Off-leash Obedience package listed above for virtual lessons.

We will meet over Google Meet and I will demonstrate how to implement the training via video.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Will the prong collar or e-collar ruin my relationship with my dog?

Nope! When used correctly, the prong collar and e-collar are incredible communication tools and will improve your relationship with your dog. By teaching your dog to understand how to turn pressure on and off, they will learn to make decisions based on this knowledge.

Will my dog have to wear the prong collar and e-collar for the rest of their life?

Ah! The question everybody asks. I’m guessing that you wear your seatbelt every time you get into the car. Aside from the fact that it’s illegal not to, you do it because it can save your life in the event of an accident. I explain it this way: while you may not have to use the e-collar every time you hit the trail once your dog is fully trained, you really don’t want to be without it that one time you need it, like when your dog decides that chasing coyotes is cool (ahem, have been there), your dog breaks their sit while a dirt bike passes through your campsite (ahem, have been there), or a bear crosses your path (have not been there…yet).

If I have a question after we finish training, can I still get in touch with you?

Yes! You may contact me via phone and email for the life of your dog.

    How does the e-collar work?

Modern day e-collars are completely different from the archaic shock collars of the past. I use E-collar Technology brand e-collars that use a TENS unit to deliver an electrical stimulation to your dog. Humans use this as a form of therapy all the time in acupuncture, at the chiropractor, and physical therapy. E-collar Technology e-collars have a range from 0 to 100, and most dogs’ working level starts at a level that humans can’t even feel.

    Do you use positive reinforcement?

I do indeed! I use a ton of positive reinforcement. I start out teaching dogs the basics (sit, down, place) by using positive reinforcement. Once they understand the command to fluency, then we pair over the e-collar to reinforce the command, while still using positive reinforcement.
